The sweet couple from Japan, Mr. and Mrs. Kuroki, have been married since 1956.
They were hoping to travel the country when they retire.
But unfortunately, just before retirement Mrs. Kuroki faces some health complications with diabetes and lost her vision as a result.
The sudden blindness understandably sent Mrs. Kuroki into a deep depression, which kept her inside for the better part of the day.
She was devastated that she would not live her retirement as she planned and felt that her life was kind of over.
Mr.Kuroki felt horrible seeing his wife with suck unhappiness and immediately started thinking of ways to change that and improve her life. The inspiration came to him one day when he was working on a small garden and noticed a lot of people stopping by to take a look at the pink shibazakura flowers that he planted.
Mr.Kuroki immediately thought that if he created a bigger garden, more visitors would come and would help cheer Mrs.Kuroki
The next two years were spent planting as many flowers as he could and tending the garden in order to keep them healthy. Over time, the Kuroki farm in Shintomi was turned into one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan.
And sure enough, the Kuroki garden became a tourist destination, which attracted visitors from all over the region.
Mrs. Kuroki, sadly, was not able to see the flowers, but she could smell them and imagine what the garden now looks like. She also has plenty of company now, all tourists and visitors to the garden.
On the best part of the year (March and April) the garden can count up to 7,000 flowers blooming in a single day!
This garden has been a popular destination for more than a decade now and has brought joy in the lives of many, especially Mrs.Kuroki.
